PERSONAL STORY

My family roots go back to the beginning of Yuma Lutheran with a younger sister in the first kindergarten class started by Dorothy Bell at Calvary Lutheran. Later, another sister was enrolled. Fast forward a couple generations and YLS became an important part of our grandchildren’s lives, with all 7 of our Yuma grandchildren attending and we will soon start with great grandchildren! That is, if we can get new classrooms built to accommodate the 200 plus in the waiting list!

Christian education has always been a passion of my late husband, Kelly, and I with supporting our Lutheran schools a priority. With what is happening in our culture, it’s even more urgent to open our doors to as many as possible. YLS does much more than reach our students with the love of God, but their families as well. A true mission field where students hear the Gospel every day and share at home with their families! A vital ministry in our community, changing lives that will change the world!

GOD has GIVEN us a VISION and will SUPPLY the need IF WE TRUST HIM! My fervent prayer is that all of us grow in our faith to open our hearts and our hands to give it all up to Him and joyfully trust Him with the results. WHEN WE DO THAT, HE WILL ALWAYS AMAZE US!

LETTER FROM PASTOR

Dear Friends of Christ Lutheran
and Yuma Lutheran School,
As you have already heard, we are in the middle of our Building on Faith campaign. It is an exciting time as we are looking to the Lord to help each one of us continue to build on the strongest foundation who is Jesus Christ. In 1 Corinthians 3:11 we read, “For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” My friends, there is no stronger foundation than Jesus Christ to build our lives upon, but it takes faith. It’s also an exciting time as we look to God, with faith, to help us renovate, build and reimagine our campus to continue to share Christ in this place through our church and school and look for new ways to reach more people for Christ.
On Sunday, October 27^th, we will begin a four-week sermon series title, “Building on Faith.” The first week the message will be about faith and what it is since we are building on it. The second week the message will be about building our lives and our ministry on Jesus Christ. The third week the message will be about giving on faith to do the work God has entrusted to us. And the fourth message on Commitment Sunday, November 17^th, will be about celebrating the faith God has given us.
I’m looking forward to sharing these messages with you, and I pray you will join us to be inspired by the Holy Spirit to build on faith. In the end, I pray through our Building on Faith campaign, God will be glorified, we will all grow in our faith, and we will reach more people to have faith in Jesus and be saved.

PRAYING FOR THE JOURNEY
Heavenly Father, as we launch into our Building on Faith campaign, help us, first of all, to focus on FAITH! You have told us “without faith, it is impossible to please God.” (Heb. 11:6) So, we look to You—“the author and perfecter of our faith”! (Heb.12:2) Teach us to “live by faith, not by sight, (2Cor.5:7) with “confidence in what we hope for and assurance of what we do not see.” (Heb.11:1)
Faith is the essence of what this whole campaign is about – having our own faith matured so that we will be able to reach out to so many others by expanding our ministry here at our church and school. But we must be intentional! You’ve told us, “faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” (Rom10:17) Give us a hunger to be in Your Word, that we may draw closer to You as our faith grows! In the precious name of Jesus!
