The disciples were downcast and filled with hopelessness. The one they had followed was dead and the prospect of the resurrection and new life seemed too good to be true. When Jesus walked with them along the road and ate with them, they were shaken from the daze of hopelessness, and realized it was Jesus and their hearts abounded in joy. Witnesses of this wondrous good news, these disciples boldly proclaimed Jesus as the one and only name of salvation and eternal life.
